Ready To Get Started?
I’ve been an Austin personal trainer for 20 years now and I’ve had a lot of people come to my gym, the Austin Fitness Center, and tell me they were ready to make a life change and get started at finally lose the weight. They said that now was the time to act. I always applaud this as having a healthy body, and body weight, is a great way to not only improve your quality of life, but your life span as well. A lot of people start out with the best of intentions, but quickly realize that their new undertaking is not just something that can be accomplished whimsically. It requires sacrifice, a lot of work, and above all, consistency. Results will not happen overnight no matter if you’re doing everything right. Your body didn’t get out of shape overnight nor will it get in shape overnight.
Being ready to make changes is great, but one must always bear in mind that changes come slowly. Getting started slowly but surely will yield the results to those who put the work in. That means more than just showing up at the gym once or twice per week, but rather doing something towards the realization of your goal every day of the week be it to do some cardiovascular exercise, to stretch, or to abstain from the all too familiar comfort food. If we can recognize a daily progression, we are that much more likely to stick with it as it becomes a mindset and replaces the all too familiar bad habits we once embraced.
There are many ways you can go about getting started embarking on your new and healthy journey. Hiring an experienced and qualified personal trainer is a great idea, but the same thing applies in that if you simply show up but don’t put in the work, the only thing slimmer will be your bank account. If you’re ready to embark on your fitness journey, prove it to yourself. Start an honest food journal everyday so you can accept personal responsibility for all that you consume instead of rationalizing or ignoring the elephant in the room. Go for early morning brisk walks that get your heart rate up so as to burn some fat. Once you get the ball rolling, find a good trainer in a setting that you are comfortable in, and stick with it. Nothing is overnight, but positive changes you can be proud of will happen.
