How To Get Rid Of Flabby Arms

Do You Want To Know How To Get Rid Of Flabby Arms?

As we get older, our body changes. Some things we don’t notice so much, such as higher blood sugar levels, for example, but other things we certainly do take notice of. They could be the graying of the hair, the formation of age spots on our hands, the wrinkles we all end up with, etc. These are all normal things that happen to anyone as they grow older. Some people color their hair so retain a more youthful appearance, and others see a dermatologist to erase the age spots on their hands. Others, go even farther and get face lifts, breast lifts, Botox, and so on. One thing that I hear a lot of professionally as a personal trainer in Austin, is people asking me how to get rid of flabby arms.

How to get rid of flabby arms isn’t as simple as one would think, and simultaneously, it’s often times easier than one would imagine. It simply depends on how your arms are sagging, and to what degree. When we refer to saggy arms, we are referring to the area around the triceps where if the person were to extend their arms directly in front of themselves, we would see loose skin and a lack of tricep muscle development.

Flabby arms have several humorous aliases. Bat wings, bingo arms, and so on, but to those who have them, they’re not exactly funny to live with. The process of how to get rid of flabby arms starts with diet and ends with exercise, providing you are not going the route of cosmetic surgery. Obviously, however, you will reach a certain age, where having fit and toned looking arms will be a thing of the past, but you can postpone that for a very long time if you’re willing to work for it.

If you want to firm up the back of your arms, you will need to have a decently low body fat percentage. This can be accomplished through a proper diet and the inclusion of regular cardiovascular exercise in your day to day routine. Once you have reached a healthy and low level of body fat, you may already have met your goal. If you haven’t, and are still wondering how to get rid of flabby arms, even though you’ve lost a good bit of weight, it will be time to incorporate some tricep exercises as well.

There are many tricep exercises to choose from, and to say which are the best for you personally to do, sight unseen, is impossible, so for the sake of simplicity, and to err on the side of caution, we will focus on a few of the simpler tricep exercises that carry the lowest amount of risk as far as injuries go. If you are using a gym, a great tricep exercise is the standing tricep press. You simply press the bar down to your waist, fully extending your arms as they travel downwards, and when they do, you’ll feel a little bit of burn in the muscles. Be sure not to shrug your shoulders, or lean forward as you perform these presses or you will be diverting the focus from the tricep to the trapezius muscles instead. Another thing you can do with small dumbbells, is a tricep kickback. To perform these, simply stand bent forward at the waist, and pull the dumbbells up alongside your chest, while keeping your back flat and your arms tucked in along your sides. Now, simply extend your arms backwards so they fully straighten out. If you want an extra bang for your buck, so to speak, hold them at the locked out position for a count of 1 or 2, while simultaneously squeezing the triceps muscles. Another variation with dumbbells, is to perform these seated, but along a different tract. Simply sit in a chair, with proper posture, and hold the dumbbell straight up in the air with your palm facing the side of your head, and bend at the elbow slowly, thus allowing the dumbbell to recede behind the back of your head. Obviously, you’ll do these one at a time, and take precautions not to smack yourself in the back of the head.

If you set out to conquer the problem, now that you know how to get rid of flabby arms, just bear in mind that it takes time to accomplish. There’s no overnight fitness miracles. If someone tells you they got visible abs in 5 minutes per day, they are lying to you. Plain and simple. It all takes time, but if you’re consistent in your efforts, you’ll get rid of those flabby arms and additionally, feel great about your accomplishment.
